The Steel Valley Enterprise Zone is a private, non-profit local development corporation comprised of representatives from local government, businesspersons and citizens. Its mission is to:
- Build the capacity of the local governments in the Enterprise Zone communities to improve the local business climate,
- Enable the local governments in the Enterprise Zone to facilitate growth in the quantity and quality of employment opportunities,
- Increase the capabilities of local governments in the Enterprise Zone to respond effectively to local business expansion opportunities and constraints,
- Present public discussion groups, forums, panels, lectures or other similar programs for the residents of the Enterprise Zone that address the unique economic and social issues present in the municipalities, and
- Assist the local governments and local business communities of the Enterprise Zone in the formation of public/private partnerships which will develop and sustain increased rates of business investment and job creation in the Enterprise Zone.
Via an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement, the Steel Valley Enterprise Zone Corporation has been designated by the local governments to coordinate and direct economic development in the area. Map of the Steel Valley Enterprise Zone.
