Homestead Borough has immediate vacancies and is looking to hire police officers.
Full time Police Officer
Qualified persons are invited to apply to the Borough of Homestead Civil Service Commission to take a complete examinations leading to eligibility for the appointment as a Patrolman for the Borough of Homestead Police Department, which comes with a competitive wage rate starting at over $80,000 that includes yearly raises as guaranteed by a Union Contract and a generous benefits package that includes longevity pay after one year of service.
General Requirements: At the time of application, candidates must possess the following: (1) A diploma from an accredited high school or graduate equivalency diploma (GED); (2) Be a US Citizen; (3) Be physically and mentally fit to perform duties of a police officer; (4) be at least 21 years of age; and (5) possess a valid Pennsylvania Motor vehicle license in good standing.
At time of hire, candidates must be Act 120 Certified under the Municipal Police Office Education Training Act (120)(MPOETC) 53 PA. C.S.A. 2161 et seq. Academy applicants that are expecting to graduate in 2026 are welcome to apply.
Successful candidates must also meet all requirements of the Borough’s Civil Services Rules and Regulations that will include a background investigation and, if selected, must pass a physical and psychological examination.
