Homestead Borough’s Civil Service Commission will hold a test on May 10, 2025 – Starting at the Homestead Borough Fire Department for physicals agility at 10am. The written exam will be given at the Homestead Borough Office after the physical agility test is complete.

Qualified persons are invited to apply to the Borough of Homestead Civil Service Commission to take a complete examinations leading to eligibility for the appointment as a Patrolman for the Borough of Homestead Police Department, which comes with a competitive wage rate that includes yearly raises as guaranteed by a Union Contract and a generous benefits package.

General Requirements:  At the time of application, candidates must possess the following: (1) A diploma from an accredited high school or graduate equivalency diploma (GED); (2) Be a US Citizen; (3) Be physically and mentally fit to perform duties of a police officer; (4) be at least 21 years of age; and (5) possess a valid Pennsylvania Motor vehicle license in good standing.

At time of hire, candidates must be Act 120 Certified under the Municipal Police Office Education Training Act (120)(MPOETC) 53 PA. C.S.A. 2161 et seq.

Successful candidates must also meet all requirements of the Borough’s Civil Services Rules and Regulations that will include a background investigation and, if selected, must pass a physical and psychological examination.
